TopCon Acquires Italy-based Ophthalmic Imaging Device Producer VISIA Imaging

TopCon Corporation, a $1.2 billion Japan-based developer of eyecare devices and software solutions worldwide has purchased Italy-based ophthalmic device manufacturer VISIA Imaging S.r.l.  The acquisition provides Topcon with a portfolio of imaging devices focused on the anterior segment to complement its existing posterior segment imaging offerings including fundus cameras and optical coherence tomography (OCT) systems.  Topcon had distributed VISIA’s CA-800 topographer/corneal analyzer, MYAH biometer/corneal topographer and Aladdin biometer for several years prior to the transaction.  The addition of VISIA Imaging will also enhance Topcon’s myopia, or nearsightedness, management solutions.  Deal terms not announced.
